Discover the personal branding
Personal branding is treated as a visibility exercise. From polished photographs, LinkedIn posts, media interviews to consultation. Those things can amplify a reputation. Your real brand is revealed in the experience people consistently have of you.
Personal branding is the way you establish and communicate your professional identity to others. It includes your personalities, communication style, online profiles, achievements, etc.
For example, imagine a digital marketer who regularly shares SEO tips, explains keyword research, blogs, on-page, off-page and discusses real marketing challenges on LinkedIn. Over time, people may begin to recognize that person as someone knowledgeable about SEO.
This recognition is an important part of personal branding. It is not just about becoming popular; it is about building a trustworthy identity.
Start by understanding what you know, what you enjoy, and what you can help others.
Ask yourself:
What skills do I have?
Which problems can I solve?
Which subjects can I explain confidently?
Who would benefit from my knowledge?
For example, if you understand SEO, you could focus on helping beginners learn keyword research, on-page SEO, off-page SEO content optimization, and website performance.
If you visited the career office of a fashion school in the past decade, you were probably given some familiar nuggets of advice and knowledge: build many types resume, don’t be too choosy about your first internships, network as much as possible through the channels provided to you — LinkedIn outreach, alumni, and university career fairs — and do not work for free because unpaid labor is both illegal and unfair.
In response to our current hiring economy — in which entry-level applicants vastly outnumber roles and applications are increasingly standardized with the use of AI — a new pillar of career advice has emerged: building your own, recognizable, “personal brand” is the most reliable way to stand out.
Some weeks I’ve been automating work that used to require a ten-person team.
Scheduling, repurposing, proofreading, references, visuals, headlines. Most of the production and online work is now handled.
What I actually do is write the article.
But here’s the key. The content you’re reading is still me. These are my ideas, my thinking and my experience. AI helps make it presentable. That part can be automated. The thinking cannot.
I see the same thing in my family business, a traditional company that sells industrial machinery equipment. We’re automating:
Invoicing and bookkeeping
Parts of the sales process
Note-taking
All the annoying parts of work. The parts nobody actually wanted to do.
AI is getting good at taking over the work we never wanted in the first place.
When everyone has access to the same tools, competence stops being special. It becomes the baseline. If everyone can write a clean email, design a graphic, write blogs, make images or ship a product with AI, those things no longer set you apart.
So what’s left?
You.
Your name, Your fame, Your taste, Your perception. The reason someone chooses you over the automated version.
Content gives people an opportunity to understand your knowledge and angle.
You can publish educational posts, official content, practical tutorials, lessons from projects, some suggestions, industry observations, or answers to common questions.
For example, a content creator could explain how they planned a video, made a video, what they learned from audience feedback, and how they improved their next piece of content.
If you discuss research or statistics, use reliable sources and give appropriate credit.
Share it with your creator or brand network.
